The rules of shotgun;

1. Calling Shotgun - You must say the word “Shotgun” to stake your claim on shotgun. This must be done clearly and loud enough so that at least one other to-be occupant of the vehicle can hear you. No variations of this word are acceptable. After you have rightfully called Shotgun, you have exclusive rights to Shotgun for that ride. However, if no one hears you call Shotgun it is still fair game for everyone. In the case of shotgun being called by two parties at the same time; paper, scissors, rock should be used to decided on the winner of shotgun.

2. Timing - Shotgun may only be called after the activity or objective that directly precedes the ride in the automobile. This can be anything from leading home, a visit at a friend’s house, a shopping trip or a visit to the pyramids. This insures that all parties have an equal chance at claiming shotgun.

3. Positioning - You must be outside to call shotgun and have the car or vehicle in sight. Once you call Shotgun and then go back inside the call is reset and shotgun is once again fair game.

4. Rights - If you manage to sit in the passenger seat or have your hand on the passengers side door before shotgun has been called then you are automatically entitled to shotgun.

5. Theft - If shotgun is falsely claimed the person who has the rightful ownership of shotgun may sit behind the thief and use physical punishment at their discretion.

6. Owner, Driver Switch - If someone is driving an automobile other than its owner and the owner becomes a passenger, then the owner automatically gets Shotgun. When applied, this rule shows respect to the owner of the car.
